EDUCATION AS BUSINESS VENTURES, NOT GOOD

The story of Kota –education is an industry, was interesting. (Entrepreneur Nov 2009 issue). However, as revealed in the article, Bansal and his clan are more interested is amassing wealth in the name of education. These coaching classes are exploiting the situation. It is the greed to make more money rather than love of profession being the reason for mushrooming of so many coaching classes. Earlier, the HRD ministry had proposed to raise the eligibility bar for the Joint Entrance Examination, to curb this coaching class culture. The students with only aim of securing a better rank in the entrance examinations are neglecting the regular studies and concentrating more on coaching classes. Through this mad coaching class culture students are more interested in JEE ranking than acquiring knowledge in the chosen subjects, since the syllabus of the coaching classes are designed in that manner. More over, only the students from affluent families are benefited from this culture, because of their ability to pay, to the disadvantage of the students from poor/middle class background. The HRD ministry proposal to some extent put an end to that disparity. It is also alleged that some students bunk the classes for the whole year and camp in the so-called Mecca of coaching classes. How ethical to coach, those, only the coaching institutes should explain. The get proxy attendance in connivance with school management. The article should have thrown some light on the other side of the story also.
